Barcelona Bus Turístic: 1- or 2-day tickets and its two routes

Touring Barcelona on an open-top bus is still the most direct way to link Gaudí, Montjuïc, the harbour and the Camp Nou without having to study the metro map. The Barcelona Bus Turístic has been running since 1987, is operated by Transports de Barcelona and combines two routes with more than 35 stops on a single ticket valid for one or two days. Here you will find the routes, fares, frequencies and the most efficient way to use it.

Updated 13 October 2026

How the Barcelona Bus Turístic works

It is the classic hop-on hop-off system: you buy a ticket, board at any stop and get off as many times as you like while it is valid. The buses are double-deckers with an open-air top deck, and every seat has an audio guide with individual earphones.

Who runs the Bus Turístic

The service belongs to Transports de Barcelona, the same public company that runs the city buses, and has been operating since 1987. That link explains why it shares stops and know-how about traffic with the municipal network.

The Bus Turístic audio guide in 16 languages

The audio guide covers Catalan, Spanish, English, French, German, Italian, Portuguese, Swedish, Dutch, Norwegian, Japanese, Chinese, Russian, Arabic, Hebrew and Turkish. It mixes history, architecture and anecdotes about each neighbourhood, and is synchronised with the bus's progress.

How long a Bus Turístic ticket is valid

An important detail: under the general terms, the ticket is valid for one or two consecutive calendar days, not for 24 or 48 hours from your first ride. The one-day ticket expires at the end of that day's service, so it pays to start early.

The Bus Turístic blue route: Gaudí, Tibidabo and the Camp Nou

It leaves from Plaça de Catalunya and heads up Passeig de Gràcia towards the upper part of the city. This is the route of the modernist icons and of the residential districts few tourists ever see.

Main stops on the Bus Turístic blue route

  • Plaça de Catalunya
  • Casa Batlló - Museu Tàpies
  • Passeig de Gràcia - La Pedrera
  • Sant Pau Recinte Modernista
  • Park Güell
  • Tibidabo - Plaça Kennedy
  • Sarrià and Monestir de Pedralbes
  • Palau Reial - Pavellons Güell
  • Les Corts, Futbol Club Barcelona, Francesc Macià, Eixample and Sant Antoni

Who the Bus Turístic blue route suits

Ideal if modernism and football are your priorities. From the Park Güell stop you can walk to the monumental zone, and the Tibidabo - Plaça Kennedy stop connects with the ways up the mountain. Note that in October 2026 the Futbol Club Barcelona stop was listed as out of service; check its status before planning your visit to the stadium.

The Bus Turístic red route: Montjuïc, the harbour and the beaches

It also starts from Plaça de Catalunya, but turns towards Montjuïc, drops down to the harbour and runs the whole length of the seafront to the Fòrum before returning via the Sagrada Família.

Main stops on the Bus Turístic red route

  • CaixaForum - Pavelló Mies van der Rohe and Poble Espanyol
  • Museu Nacional d'Art de Catalunya and Anella Olímpica
  • Fundació Joan Miró and Telefèric de Montjuïc
  • Miramar - Jardins Costa i Llobera and World Trade Center
  • La Rambla - Colom
  • Arc de Triomf - Estació Barcelona Nord
  • Sagrada Família
  • Poblenou, Parc Diagonal Mar and Fòrum
  • Platja Nova Mar Bella, Platja del Bogatell, Port Olímpic - Zoo
  • Barceloneta - Museu d'Història de Catalunya

Who the Bus Turístic red route suits

It is the most complete option if you want to combine the Montjuïc museums, the cable car, the seafront promenade and the Sagrada Família in a single day. When there are roadworks, some stops may be temporarily cancelled; the staff on board will point out the alternatives.

Barcelona Bus Turístic prices

The official fares distinguish between buying online, with a 10% discount, and buying on board. Figures are indicative, checked October 2026:

One day or two days on the Bus Turístic

One day is enough to cover both routes comfortably if you limit yourself to getting off at three or four stops. If you plan to visit monuments with timed entry, the two-day ticket gives your schedule breathing space for a moderate difference in price.

Refunds and lost Bus Turístic tickets

The terms of service do not allow refunds once a ticket has been bought, and a lost ticket will not be replaced: keep it with you for the whole trip, as you will be asked for it when boarding and during inspections.

Bus Turístic timetables and frequencies

The service runs every day of the year except 1 January and 25 December. It starts between 9:00 and 9:30 at most stops, and the last departure from Plaça de Catalunya is at 19:00.

How often the Bus Turístic runs

Frequency ranges from 10 to 25 minutes depending on the season. Each full route, without getting off, takes about two hours.

The best time to board the Bus Turístic

  • First thing in the morning: more seats on the top deck and soft light for photographing façades.
  • In summer: the midday sun beats down on the open deck, so schedule your indoor visits for that time.
  • Marathon days and big events: the timetable can change, as happened with the Barcelona Marathon, which pushed the start of service back to 13:00.

Special Bus Turístic services

In the summer season there is also a night tour departing at 21:30 and lasting about an hour and a half, and at Christmas a lights tour is scheduled. Both are sold separately.

Bus Turístic tickets with the calendar on this page

To avoid improvising at the bus stop, use the calendar on this page: choose the day you will start using the bus and press “Check availability”. We tell you whether tickets are available for that date and, if your trip is not finalised yet, we can email you when availability or the price changes.

What you get when you book the Bus Turístic

Booking online with our booking partner gives you a voucher on your phone that is exchanged or validated as explained in your confirmation. Check there where to redeem it and whether the date you chose corresponds to your first day of use, which matters for a ticket valid for consecutive calendar days.

Choosing your Bus Turístic date wisely

If you arrive in Barcelona at midday, do not activate a one-day ticket that afternoon: you will get much more out of it by starting at nine the next morning.

Practical tips for the Barcelona Bus Turístic

A little strategy turns the bus into an efficient means of transport rather than just a panoramic ride.

Planning your Bus Turístic stops

  1. Pick three or four visits with timed entry beforehand and put them in route order.
  2. You do not have to start at Plaça de Catalunya: board at the stop nearest your accommodation.
  3. Switch routes at the shared stops, such as Plaça de Catalunya, Casa Batlló - Museu Tàpies or Sant Antoni.

Comfort on board the Bus Turístic

The operator itself recommends sun cream, a cap, sunglasses and plenty of water for the open deck. The buses have no luggage racks; suitcases travel in the central area of the lower deck and must stay with their owners.

The Bus Turístic with children and wheelchairs

All vehicles have a ramp and space for wheelchairs. Pushchairs must be folded on the lower deck, and pets may only travel in a carrier.

Discounts with your Bus Turístic ticket

Showing your ticket at the ticket desks of participating venues gives you discounts on various attractions; some offers work with a code entered when buying.

What to visit from the Bus Turístic stops

The bus is the backbone that connects many of the activities in this guide.

Modernism from the Bus Turístic

The blue route drops you in front of Casa Batlló and La Pedrera and brings you close to Park Güell; the red route has its own stop at the Sagrada Família. With timed tickets, fitting two of these monuments into one day is realistic.

Montjuïc by Bus Turístic

On the slopes of Montjuïc the red route links the Fundació Joan Miró, the Poble Espanyol, the MNAC and the Telefèric de Montjuïc, which climbs up to the castle. It is the easiest way to avoid the hill's steep climbs.

Harbour and football by Bus Turístic

From the Barceloneta - Museu d'Història de Catalunya stop you can walk to L'Aquàrium de Barcelona and the catamaran trips; on the blue route, the Les Corts area brings you close to the FC Barcelona museum.

The Bus Turístic on a 2027 trip to Barcelona

The bus runs almost all year round, but the experience changes with the seasons. In spring and autumn the open deck is a pleasure; in July and August it is better to alternate stretches on the lower deck with stops in the shade. The La Mercè festival at the end of September and major sporting events can disrupt routes because of road closures, so before each outing take a look at the current service changes the operator publishes every day. With that precaution, the Bus Turístic remains the simplest way to get a first overall picture of the city in one or two days.

How many routes does the Barcelona Bus Turístic have?

Two: the blue route, towards Passeig de Gràcia, Park Güell, Tibidabo, Pedralbes and Les Corts, and the red route, towards Montjuïc, the harbour, the beaches, the Fòrum and the Sagrada Família. Both leave from Plaça de Catalunya and can be combined on the same ticket.
